Weekly Focus: Career
When you get married, you're not just combining your lives, you’re also bringing together two individual dreams, talents, interests, and career paths.
Maybe you already love what you do. Maybe you're still figuring it out. Maybe one of you has a very clear career path while the other is exploring what's next. Wherever you are, marriage can be an incredible source of encouragement as you pursue work that is meaningful and fulfilling to you.
Here's something worth remembering: the chances that both of you will have the exact same career for your entire marriage are pretty slim. Careers change. Opportunities change. Interests change. Life changes.
There may be promotions, career changes, layoffs, entrepreneurship, going back to school, seasons of staying home, or completely unexpected opportunities. Your job may change several times throughout your marriage, and your partner's might too. Your role as a team is to help each other thrive in whatever season you're in.
PAUSE & CONSIDER
Marriage isn't about choosing between "my career" and "your career." It's about creating a partnership where both people have room to grow, contribute, and pursue work that fits who they are becoming.
